All StoryCorps interviews will be archived at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C., making it possible for our loved one’s voices to live on as
they pass their stories and experience down for generations to come.

StoryCorps is a powerful experiment in democracy, history, and memory in the digital age. StoryCorps is the first born-digital audio collection at the Library of Congress. In addition to the complete archive at the Library of Congress, portions of the StoryCorps collection will be housed with partner institutions.

Special Collection Archives

September 11th Initiative:
Interviews collected through our September 11th initiative will become part of the collection of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center

The Griot Initiative: All interviews collected through the StoryCorps Griot Initiative will become part of the collection at the Smithsonian Institute’s National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Local Archives

In 2007 StoryCorps began piloting the Local Archive program. In
partnership with libraries, museums, and other organizations around the
country we will offer access to our stories within the communities in
which they were recorded.

Plans are underway to establish over 50 Local Archives, ranging in size from tens of interviews to hundreds.
